Land Rover Plans New Hybrids by 2021

We understand that sustainability is an increasingly prominent concern for our customers. We know that in the information age, our customers are better informed than ever. They know how important it is for all consumers to do their part to drive down their carbon footprint. And they also know which brands are going the extra mile to meet their needs.

One might expect prestige brands like Land Rover to rest on their laurels, coasting by on their name and reputation… But at Heritage Land Rover we know better. We know that the brand has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to offer the same robust performance that drivers have come to expect from the brand while incorporating a wide range of new mild-hybrid (battery assisted hybrid vehicles) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) drivetrains into their range of vehicles.

New hybrids planned by 2021

Last week, Land Rover announced plans to introduce wider electrification across its line-up with a range of new hybrids ready to hit the market by 2021. We’re really excited about the prospect of introducing our customers to these new vehicles which promise to combine the brand’s trademark performance with a shift towards greater sustainability and economy.

As of this year, all new Land Rover models will be offered with the option of either mild-hybrid or plug-in hybrid drivetrains. Let’s take a look at what’s on the horizon...

The new Evoque

The second generation Evoque is just around the corner and we’re looking forward to showing customers what it has to offer. Powered by a combination of an advanced 2.0 litre 300PS Si4 Ingenium petrol engine and a high capacity 105kW electric motor, the new Evoque will offer unparalleled performance and energy economy. Capable of delivering up to 48km of continuous driving in EV mode and featuring regenerative brakes which store and redistribute kinetic energy from braking, there’s a great deal to get excited about here.

The Defender

Seasoned Land Rover enthusiasts will know that this robust camper has been a long time coming and with the news that Defenders will be available both as mild and plug-in hybrids, excitement surrounding the upcoming vehicle has reached fever pitch. The Defender is poised to show the world what an electric car can really do off road! We’re even hearing rumblings that an all-electric Defender could be a possibility someday!

The Mark 5 Range Rover

Of course, no conversation about upcoming Land Rovers is complete without mentioning the Range Rover 5. While the latest iteration of the flagship vehicle is expected to enter showrooms in 2021 there’s still a lot to get excited about, especially the promise of a all-new aluminium platform, dubbed MLA which will make the vehicle significantly lighter and more versatile than previous iterations.
